Transition Arrangements for the end of the Summer Term
The final two days of the Summer Term are being used to move the children into their new classrooms with their new staff. This is to help them get to know the staff, to familiarise themselves with routines and to minimise any worries about returning to school in September. The hope is that all pupils will be able to settle into their new school year group, feeling ready and excited to start back with us after the summer break. It will also enable the staff to get to know their new class and make a flying start to the return to school as well.
In practice, this means that the children’s last day with their current teacher will be on Wednesday 17th July.
On Thursday 18th and Friday 19th July, children will be working in their new classroom with their new teacher before school finishes for the summer holidays.
Our current Year 6s have a special programme of events and activities to mark the end of their time at St. Peter’s over these same two days, ending in our Leavers’ Assembly. For the purpose of our transition document, they are referred to as Year 7s.
For pupils about to start Reception or Nursery, and for new pupils starting St. Peter’s in September, they will also be able to take part in this transition event. Details for new entrants have been sent out separately, at the end of June.
Final plans for this year’s transition arrangements can be found in the link below:.
To help the children get to know a little about their new teacher before our transition days later in July, we have prepared a little introduction information sheet about them which you can share with your child in the coming days. These can be found online at: Meet the Teacher 2024 — St Peter's Primary Academy (stpeters-keys.com)
